    Hello,
I’m looking for a biofeedback unit that works on training correct muscle activation for specific actions ie., Triceps extension.
Would your company or one that you know of, make a similar device for this purpose?
    Thank you,
    Helen Anzick OT

Replied directly to Helen, but for public reference:
I believe I understand your question, so I’ll answer the basics, but recommend we set up a time to talk on the phone. The use of muscle tension, EMG biofeedback, is not simple. As you are an occupational therapist and seem to understand the musculature and the mechanisms of action, injury and pain perception related to kinesiology, I’ll proceed.

The GP8 hardware kit with the Alive Pioneer software can measure muscle action potentials being activated via an adhesive sensor set. You’ll need to set up 3 of the adhesive sensors and leads along the length of the muscle being studied. We can supply a guide which has some specific instructions related to the placement and the resultant signal amplitude measured. I can point you to a couple of books on biofeedback which can have a more in depth explanation of using EMG (electromyography) biofeedback.

More importantly, the Alive Pioneer system with GP8 Hardware kit can measure other capacities which will serve you and your clients well in the quest to understand the pain, be aware of it, change the perception and set up the body for an overall greater inherent healing capacity via controlled resonance breathing and heart rate variability training. There are other measures such as respiratory and skin temperature sensors which might have relevant results for you for all patients, or for some, such as specific to migraines.

For actual medical conditions, it is beyond my scope to comment, but I can provide reference books and materials for you to review.

I think this is the base answer for you.

We should spend some time on the phone such that you can explain your client base and intended use along with background with biofeedback.

Hello My name is Dr. Grandjean, I work mostly with ADHD and high functioning autistic children and have in the past used a simpler older biofeedback program through another medical professional and found it very helpful. However we are in the process of developing a multifaceted autism center and alpha and beta wave control as well as blood pressure, CNS control as well as overall ability to control emotions is a key factor with most of our neuro-divergent population. I am very interested in the Prof biofeedback Alive system as well as the dreamscapes addition. Can you tell me a little about the training options? As well as possibly more specific computers that work more efficiently with the program and dreamscape?

Thank you for reaching out to me at Braintraincoach.com. You have come to the right place. A direct email has been sent to further the communication as we determine your best solution.

I have been using and distributing the Alive and Dreamscapes Software since they first were developed, including being an early beta tester. I also regularly talk to professionals who use the systems with all sorts of patients, but surely a lot use biofeedback to help those on the ASD spectrum. There are plenty of biofeedback studies showing efficacy for adhd and asd populations.

As for Alive Pioneer and Dreamscapes, these are considered the best ‘gaming biofeedback’ software programs in the industry. For this reason, they are even more valuable and conducive to working with adhd and autistic children. The Dreamscapes software especially has many and varied games which allow you to find one that matches the interests of a particular patient, but many will also meet the needs of most of your clients.

i am trying to find a clinical HRV Biofeedback system to use in-office with acute concussion patients. Do you have a gamified biofeedback system for them?
